The first ever white card to be used was shown to medical staff during the Benfica Sporting Lisbon match during the Portuguese womens cup quarterfinals which took place on 21 January.

The card was shown to medical staff who helped a fan at the Esadio da Luz in Lisbon and was met with cheers from fans of both sides.

The white card has been brought in as part of the national plan for ethics in sport (PNED).
